Winter Storm Warning issued January 15 at 2:30AM PST until January 17 at 6:00AM PST by NWS Sacramento CA


...Hazardous mountain travel expected later today into early

.A winter storm is expected to bring moderate to heavy snow to the
mountains and upper foothills later today into Friday. Mountain
travel during this time will be very difficult with reduced
visibility, chain controls, and possible road closures. Gusty
winds may bring periods of whiteout conditions. Plan ahead and
continue to monitor the forecast.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Travel will be very difficult to
impossible. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet, with
localized amounts up to 3 feet, are expected.

* WHERE...Motherlode and West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada.

* WHEN...6 AM Thursday to 6 AM Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels lower to 2000 to 2500 feet by
Thursday night.

roads and limited visibilities. Travel is not recommended while
