Flood Watch issued February 11 at 3:15AM EST expiring February 12 at 6:00PM EST by NWS Jackson KY


The National Weather Service in Jackson has expanded the

* Flood Watch to include portions of northeast Kentucky, south
central Kentucky, and southeast Kentucky, including the
following areas, in northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In
south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, and Whitley. In
southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan,
Knott, Knox, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, and

* From late tonight through Tuesday afternoon.

* Rainfall of 1.5 to 2 inches expected through Tuesday afternoon.
Locally higher amounts will be possible.

* Excessive rainfall could lead to flooding, especially in low
lying areas, and will likely cause streams to run high through
at least mid week. Significant rises are also expected on area
rivers, especially along portions of the Kentucky and
Cumberland River Basins. Due to the rainfall, a threat for mud
and rock slides will continue through Tuesday afternoon.


A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
