Flash Flood Watch issued October 12 at 4:44AM EDT expiring October 12 at 6:00AM EDT by NWS Upton NYAlert
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of southern Connecticut and southeast New York,
including the following areas, in southern Connecticut, Southern
New London. In southeast New York, Suffolk.
* Until 6 AM EDT early this morning.
* Tropical moisture ahead of post-tropical storm Michael as it
passes south of Long Island is interacting with a cold front
just to the south. Showers and a few thunderstorms will
continue, with the rain heavy at times.
* Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches could result in flash
flooding, especially if it occurs in a short time span of less
than an hour. The heaviest rainfall is expected across the forks
of Long Island.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
